Online Tool Teaches Asset Management Planning Practices.

Want to learn how to extend the life of your facility’s assets? Or need to determine which investments will have the greatest impact on your asset management program? There may be a simple solution. SIMPLE, the Sustainable Infrastructure Management Program Learning Environment, is a web-based tool that will assist wastewater plants in learning about life-cycle asset management plans.

By gathering asset management practices and processes from around the world, SIMPLE offers users an in-depth understanding of asset management for the wastewater treatment facility. Users will learn about making cost-effective investments—acquisition, maintenance, renewal—in their facility’s asset portfolio. SIMPLE also provides guidance on how to extend the life of existing assets by implementing optimal maintenance practices and rehabilitation interventions, ultimately improving operational efficiency and reducing operational costs.

The tool is designed for a wide range of users, from the asset management novice to the expert. In initial user tests the tool proved to be user friendly and powerful—full of in-depth practical information.
