About KDFs
WEF and WERF are collaboratively hosting two Knowledge Development Forums (KDFs) in 2016. A KDF is a participatory forum whose purpose is to advance the state of knowledge on a particular topic, going beyond the traditional educational objectives of a technical session or workshop. Input from varied sources is welcome and the forum encourages the emergence of new ideas. A KDF should have specific outputs that are planned in advance which may include, but are not limited to: educational products and services; reports and publications; social media; research agendas; and/or long-term program plans. The KDFs will be similar to the August 2015 Intensification of Resource Recovery Forum at Manhattan College (, but shorter in duration and focused on a single topic. As appropriate, these will be coordinated in conjunction with the Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology (LIFT) program and/or appropriate WEF committees. The first KDF will be odors-focused and is taking place in Milwaukee, WI on March 24-25 in conjunction with the WEF Odors and Air Pollutants Specialty Conference.
