REPORT DESCRIPTION:

In light of recent weather-related disasters and an awareness of the vulnerability of water infrastructure, many are struggling with issues of how to prepare for the broad range of possible climate change impacts. The objective of this research was to identify and characterize water quality impacts, from source to tap, of extreme weather-related events. The project provides water utilities with a set of tools to identify and assess their vulnerabilities and to develop effective adaptation strategies. By documenting the lessons learned from past events, utilities will be better able to prepare and respond to future events quickly and effectively. This research was jointly sponsored by the Water Research Foundation, Water Environment Research Foundation, and Water Services Association of Australia. 153 pages. Online report and case study PDFs, plus Excel-based Extreme Weather Tool. (2014)
