REPORT DESCRIPTION:

This research represents the first comprehensive full-scale study to examine the impact of integrating seawater desalinated via reverse osmosis (SWRO) water into existing regional supplies of disparate quality. The research provides an understanding of the water quality impact of blended supplies for San Diego area utilities that receive desalinated seawater and provides an analysis of baseline data to support the future assessment of long-term impact in addition to results directly pertaining to influences observed over the first year operation at the Carlsbad Desalination Plant. The results of this study will serve as a resource for the water treatment industry to better anticipate the potential water quality blending impacts that may occur in similar seawater or other desalination applications.
