REPORT DESCRIPTION:

This Research provides insight into the removal of individual organics for potable reuse applications using reverse osmosis and includes an Excel-based tool to calculate the mass transfer coefficients of organics. The research team selected various organics to gain insight into the importance of functional chemistry on rejection, including the effects of specific functional groups (e.g., hydroxyl, carbonyl, and halogen groups), carbon-carbon double bonds, carbon chain branching, positioning of functional groups, and other factors. The membrane products ranged from ultra-low pressure to seawater RO membranes in order to study the effect of membrane tightness on permeation of organics. Published by WRF. 344 pages. Online PDF.
