REPORT DESCRIPTION:

The long-term viability and sustainability of biosolids land application requires community confidence, trust, and support. This research adapted the Strategic Risk Communications Process to address the unique needs of biosolids professionals and the communications challenges and opportunities in the communities in which they operate. The process was tested and adapted through two case studies conducted in collaboration with the City of Tulsa, Water Pollution Control and the Virginia Biosolids Council. Messages and materials developed from the case studies provide examples of how the steps are implemented. This research can improve the ability to design and conduct effective risk communications, through outreach and dialogue with the communities where biosolids is applied. Published by WERF. 258 pages. Soft cover and online PDF. (2011)
