Following the example of the commercial sector, some drinking water and wastewater utilities are launching innovation programs to stimulate the development of new ideas and partnerships. These utilities recognize that the ability to thrive depends on providing a culture that supports innovation and manages ideas as valuable resources. The project was funded by WRF, WE&RF/LIFT, and partner utilities to help utilities create organization-wide innovation environments incorporating best practices from available literature and successful innovation program experience. The final report includes a glossary of commonly used terms, literature review, global surveys, case studies, utility workshops, and a guidance manual to assist utilities seeking to foster innovation. 189 pages plus 100-page case study report.
